Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, our ethos and culture is to support our young people to develop strategies focusing on positive behaviours, reducing and ideally removing the need for our young people to deploy unhelpful strategies to communicate their needs, be heard, listened to and understood. 
     
    You will work with identified students as part of a small team around the student, enabling and empowering them to prepare for fulfilling busy lives as young adults. Along the way, there will be fun, memories to make and a significant journey of ups and downs. As they graduate our young people demonstrate the progress they have made through their actions.     Beaumont College in Sussex is located on the well regarded Ingfield Manor School site. Developed in partnership, the specialist post 19 College setting is intended to support some of the most vulnerable special school leavers in their journey towards busy and fulfilling lives as adults. 
     
    Both Ingfield Manor School and Beaumont College are part of Salutem Care and Education. Sharing the site isn’t all that we do together. Most of our students rely on the specialist health, allied health and some access positive behavior supports, so as a College Support Worker you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support students who have long term health conditions, which are commonly complex. Most students are supported around mobility and may well be wheelchair users. 
     
    You will be values driven, and have an affinity with our students as young adults. They live with disability, and the care and support they rely on must be provided by others, and always with dignity and respect and with their consent and agreement. You will be trained and supported to reach the expected standards, and our learners will be able to communicate with you about their needs and preferences in their preferred way.

Learning Support Worker

    Beaumont College Sussex is a very special place. We provide highly personalised pathways for special school leavers, and we support them in the journey to become adults, and to live independent and fulfilling lives as far as possible. This provision is based on the large, rural site of Ingfield Manor and the outdoors can play a fundamental role in underpinning learning, and wellbeing.

    Our Learning Support Workers (LSWscome from a wide-range backgrounds and are passionate and they are ambitious for our students to succeed. The role of an LSW is to support with the delivery of Pathway Skills and learning against student expected outcomes to a high standard across the curriculum. 

    The role of an LSW can include supporting College Support Workers (CSW’s) to promote student self-advocacy and for CSW’s to demonstrate patience and avoid ‘over supporting’ during learning. On occasion an LSW will be asked to deliver learning under the direction of supervision of an FE Teacher or Pathway Coordinator.  

    LSW’s enable aspects of personalization through reasonable adjustments to support, learning and assessment. They will facilitate recording and monitoring progress, ensure that evidence to reflect that learning is taking place is collected, captured, recorded and reported 

    LSW’s will lead the focus on measure increased confidence, resilience, self-belief and self-advocacy in relation to reliance on support in learning.  

    We follow the Preparing for Adulthood Agenda, and our students follow highly personalised pathways, which combine intended outcomes to study, linked to longer term goals for busy and fulfilling lives as adults and graduates of the college.  

    Our curriculum includes embedded, and in some cases explicit English, maths and IT as appropriate, PHSE, British Values and a wide range of vocational sessions. Tutors and Teachers will appreciate the importance of communication, and be prepared to develop their skills to support an environment of Total Communication.  

    Our courses provide opportunities for a wide range of special school leavers, from those with profound multiple and complex health and learning difficulties, through to individuals who would like to work in paid or voluntary roles.  

    Beaumont College staff are an extended family, and maintain a person-centred approach in all that we do.
