Personal Development
This enrichment programme supports the development of Independence, Communication and Community participation for all learners.
Learners undertake a wide range of activities that enable them to develop skills in real and relevant situations, particularly in the local community.
The curriculum enables learners to experience a wide range of enrichment activities including the following:

Work placements in the local community
Day and residential outdoor educational activities
External college courses
Beauty Therapy/Personal Presentation
Horse riding
Trampolining
Cooking
Yoga
Stretch and chill
Swimming
Health and Fitness clubs
Shopping and money management
Practical living skills
Independent travel
Exploring the local community
Health and wellbeing
Student Union meetings
Mobility plans
Personal Development targets enable learners to practice and develop the skills required for independence and taking increased control of their own lives.
Designated Personal Development tutors and Key workers collaborate to set appropriate targets that enable learners to make progress and achieve success within their Personal Development plans.
It also includes the delivery of the following taught curriculum activities for identified learners:

Relationships and Sexual Health programme
Self-advocacy and Relationships programme
Citizenship programme
Personal and Social Development Accreditation (ASDAN) units can be achieved through individual portfolio building. City and Guilds Certificate in Effective AAC can also be achieved where appropriate.
Learner voice is a central philosophy of the college – empowering individuals to make informed choices and decisions through the Student Union, the tutorial system and learner representation across various working groups.
