“I have been extremely impressed by the attention John receives from John’s Keyworker and all staff. Everyone has been very helpful in every way while John has settled in this term. I also feel welcome each time I have visited college. College security is very reassuring.”

Living At Beaumont

We aim to enable Learners to develop independence by providing the appropriate amount of support that can be scaled for each individual. We enable our Learners to develop their independence skills in a realistic way that will benefit them when they leave Beaumont.

All Learners at Beaumont College are assigned a dedicated Keyworker. Each Keyworker at the College is highly trained and focused on the particular needs and interests of their key student.  He or she will be active in helping Learners to study, thrive and enjoy themselves.

The Keyworker will work alongside each student, supporting communication and access to the College community.  He or she will support their key student in getting out and about into the city centre of Lancaster, to the resort facilities of Morecambe, and to the many leisure venues and natural resource locations in the northwest of England.  The Keyworker along with a dedicated area staff team will also support Learners to keep in touch with people outside College who are important to them.

The College has a duty manager on duty 24 hours a day during term time, so Learners, parents/guardians or appointed representatives always have a point of contact for any queries that may arise.

Members of staff on area teams have a wealth of knowledge and experience.  They work to student’s individual requirements and promote privacy, dignity and respect at all times.  Their dreams’ in the safest way possible.

They keep safety in mind, and that can mean helping Learners to do some very exciting, adventurous activities that they may have always wanted to try. They will do all they can to help Learners ‘realise their dreams in the safest way possible.

At Beaumont College, the entire specialist team works for the student. All Learners are supported by the interdisciplinary team to access their own individual programme. As a united team, we will support Learners to learn as much as they can, to be as creatively expressive as they can, to develop their personal and communication skills especially for a more empowered life after College, and, hopefully, to have the time of their life while they are here with us.
