Creative Arts Programme

Beaumont College offers a unique approach to Creative Arts through inclusive programmes for learners of all physical and learning abilities. We believe that all people are creative when provided with a supportive environment and facilitated through a person-centred approach. The courses offer opportunities for personal expression and growth.

All the creative courses are taught through projects, with learner centred Skills for Life, Therapy and Communication goals embedded throughout. Learners will complete up to 6 projects in each of their chosen subjects over their three year programme. Each project provides the learners with a creative opportunity to express themselves as an individual and as part of a team, using a wide range of media. The courses are delivered by the education staff working together with the multi-disciplinary team, using person centred approaches to build on the learners strengths and interests. Each project ends with a performance or exhibition to both internal and external audiences, both within the college and at a range of local community and national venues.

The creative arts programme consists of:

Visual Arts

    Fine Art
    Media
    Environmental Art

Performing Arts:

    Music
    Dance
    Performance

Many learners are able to gain nationally recognised awards and qualifications e.g. the Arts Award at Bronze, Silver or Gold levels in their preferred creative subjects. The programme draws on a wide range of regional arts providers, including the Tate Liverpool, More Music in Morecambe, The Lanternhouse in Ulverston and The Dukes Theatre in Lancaster. Community participation for learners is maximised through collaborative projects with local schools and other educational establishments. The college hosts an annual arts festival each summer term where the doors are open to showcase all the work produced by learners, guest artists and creative partnerships. Over their time at Beaumont learners are supported to make connections with arts providers in their local area to enable them to continue to develop their skills and interests after graduating from Beaumont.
